Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 6, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how WISSEN ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website, applications, and related services (the "Service").
1. Information we collect
We may collect:
- Account information — name, email address, username, profile details, and authentication identifiers (for example, when you sign in with Google or email).
- Content you provide — knowledge items, files, notes, comments, and other material you upload or create in the Service.
- Usage data — features used, credits consumed, login timestamps, and technical logs needed to operate and secure the Service.
- Device and browser data — IP address, browser type, and similar technical information collected automatically.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service;
- Authenticate users and prevent fraud or abuse;
- Generate AI summaries and chat responses you request;
- Enforce plan limits and process subscription changes;
- Communicate with you about your account (for example, verification emails);
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. AI processing
When you use AI features, relevant portions of your content may be sent to third-party model providers to generate responses. We configure these integrations to process data only as needed to deliver the feature.
4. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information:
- With service providers that help us operate the Service (hosting, email, analytics);
- With other users when you explicitly share content or participate in community features;
- When required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security;
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with appropriate safeguards.
5. Data retention
We retain account and content data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, and meet legal requirements. You may request deletion of your account subject to applicable law and our backup retention practices.
6. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. Documents and images you upload to Memo are encrypted with AES-256-GCM on our servers before they are stored in cloud object storage (with additional server-side encryption at the storage provider). The service decrypts files only to deliver features you request—such as preview, download, text extraction, and AI summaries—for accounts that are authorized to access that content. Vault items use stricter access rules for encrypted document previews.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. This is application-level encryption at rest, not client-side end-to-end encryption where only you hold the decryption key.
7. Your choices
You can update profile information in the app. You may opt out of non-essential marketing emails where offered. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data — contact us to exercise those rights.
8. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication, preferences (such as theme), and analytics to understand how the Service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
9. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. International users
If you access the Service from outside the country where our servers are located, your information may be transferred to and processed in other countries with different data protection laws.
11. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy with a new "Last updated" date and, where required, provide additional notice.
12. Contact
